Ethiopian Airlines Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Service to Kigali, Rwanda

Ethiopian Airlines is celebrating 50 years of service to Kigali, Rwanda, with the inaugural flight between Addis Ababa and Kigali taking to the skies on June 8, 1975.

On Sunday (June 8, 2025), Ethiopian Airlines marked the 50th anniversary of their inaugural flight to Kigali, Rwanda. Sing launching the Addis Ababa-Kigali route in 1975, the carrier has played a key role in strengthening diplomatic, economic and cultural ties between the two countries. Currently, Ethiopian Airlines operates 21 weekly passenger flights and three dedicated cargo services to Kigali, offering seamless connectivity to their extensive global network of over 145 destinations across five continents via Addis Ababa.
Speaking on the occasion, Ethiopian Airlines Group’s CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, said,
“We are excited to reach such a milestone. Over 50 years of service to Kigali, we have expanded both our passenger and cargo operations, with increased frequencies for the benefit of our customers. This marks another demonstration of Ethiopian Airlines' commitment to serving the people of Africa.”
Founded in 1945, Ethiopian Airlines is the fastest growing airline in Africa.
