Emirates and Avianca have announced the launch of a reciprocal codeshare partnership via European gateways. Emirates guests will gain access to Medellin Cali and Bogotá, while Avianca customers traveling to select European points can connect with Emirates to Dubai.
On Wednesday (May 22, 2024), Emirates announced the launch of a new reciprocal codeshare partnership with Avianca via European gateways. Emirates guests will now enjoy seamless connections via European gateways to Medellin and Cali with Avianca, in addition to Bogotá. Likewise, inbound Avianca customers to select European points will enjoy seamless one-stop connections to Dubai with Emirates.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said,
“We are delighted to establish a codeshare partnership with Colombia’s largest carrier, Avianca to provide seamless connections on select routes to customers of both airlines. The codeshare agreement will enable us to expand our reach and allow our customers to use our services and fly to additional popular points in Colombia.”
“We are also pleased to offer Avianca’s customers connections through points in Spain as well as London Heathrow to and from our hub in Dubai, along with other benefits such a single baggage policy and seamless connectivity. We look forward to developing the relationship further, and introducing more added-value benefits in the future that will be felt by customers of both airlines.”
Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership. Avianca’s Chief Revenue Officer, Claudio Vélez, said,
“We are very pleased to launch this codeshare agreement with Emirates which ratifies, once again, our commitment to connectivity, access to new destinations and a greater attraction of passengers to Latin America. This collaboration will bring our region closer to Dubai via Europe and it will also strengthen Avianca’s operation in Barcelona, Madrid and London Heathrow. Emirates is one of the largest and most prestigious airlines in the world, so this partnership is a testimony and recognition of Avianca's track record, our world-class operational indicators, and the strength of our route network.”
Customers flying with Emirates via Madrid, Barcelona or London Heathrow, can now enjoy seamless connectivity to three points in Colombia. Codeshare flights include service from Madrid to Bogotá, Medellin, or Cali, from Barcelona to Bogotá, and from London Heathrow to Bogotá. Under the new codeshare partnership, Avianca will also place their marketing code on flights operated by Emirates between Barcelona, Madrid or London Heathrow and Dubai. Avianca customers traveling with Emirates-operated widebody aircraft will enjoy premium dining, lie-flat seats in premium cabins, and over 6,500 channels on Emirates’ award-winning ice inflight entertainment (IFE) system, including in Spanish.
Tickets on the new codeshare flights are now bookable for travel from June 4, 2024. Customers of both airlines will enjoy the convenience of single ticket itineraries, and baggage checked through to their final destination. Currently, Emirates as commercial cooperation agreements with 161 interline, codeshare and intermodal partners.
