On Thursday (July 9, 2026), Norwegian Air Shuttle announced that they will strengthen their winter focus in Northern Norway by opening a new direct route between Tromsø and Glasgow, Scotland.  The new winter seasonal route will operate twice weekly from December 11, 2026, making it easier for Scottish travelers to experience Northern Norway’s Arctic winter, while giving Norwegians a direct connection to one of Scotland’s most exciting cities. The departures on Mondays and Fridays are well suited for both long weekends and longer holiday stays.

In Thursday’s announcement, Norwegian’s Chief Commercial Officer, Magnus Thome Maursund, said,

“The new route between Tromsø and Glasgow forges closer ties with our friends in Scotland. We are seeing increasing interest among Scottish travelers who want authentic Arctic winter experiences, experiencing the spectacular Northern Lights and whale watching in Northern Norway.  Glasgow offers our Norwegian passengers a lively destination known for its hospitality, vibrant music scene and as a gateway to the magnificent Scottish Highlands.  With direct flights, it becomes easier to experience everything Scotland has to offer – whether it’s a weekend in the big city or a longer round trip.”
