Wizz Air to Open New Base in Lviv, Ukraine on July 1st, 2020

Wizz Air announced on Wednesday that they will be opening their second Ukrainian base at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport in Lviv on July 1st, 2020. The carrier will base one Airbus A320 in Lviv and launch service to seven new destinations from Ukraine.

Today, Wizz Air announced that they will open a new base at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport in Lviv, Ukraine on July 1st, 2020. The airline will base an Airbus A320 at the new base, which will become their second Ukrainian base after Kharkiv. Wizz Air will also launch seven new routes from Ukraine with five from their new Lviv base and two from Kharkiv. From Lviv, the carrier will serve Billund (Denmark), Tallinn (Estonia), Lisbon (Portugal), Hamburg (Germany) and Szczecin (Poland). Wizz will also launch service from Kharkiv to Tallinn and Berlin. In Wednesday’s announcement, Wizz Air’s Chief Commercial Officer, George Michalopoulos said,

“We are pleased to announce the expansion of our Ukrainian route network while at the same time implementing enhanced health measures. Today marks a great milestone in the history of WIZZ operations in Ukraine as we announce the opening of a base in Lviv with five new routes from July. We are also announcing the launch of two new routes to Kharkiv. This investment underlines our long term commitment to the country.”
