Wizz Air Appoints Ian Malin as Company’s New Group Chief Financial Officer

Wizz Air has today announced the appointment of Ian Malin as the Group’s new Chief Financial Officer effective October 1st, 2022. Mr. Malin will succeed Jourik Hooghe, who is stepping down to pursue opportunities outside the company.

On Monday (August 22, 2022), Wizz Air announced the appointment of Ian Malin as Group Chief Financial Officer effective October 1st, 2022. Mr. Malin will be based in Budapest, reporting directly to the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, József Váradi. He succeeds the Group’s current CFO, Jourik Hooghe, who will step down on to pursue opportunities outside of the company. Mr. Hooghe will remain on through December 31, 2022 to ensure a smooth transition. In his new role as CFO and part of the company’s Executive Leadership Team, Ian Malin will be responsible for digital development, investor relations, financial planning and controlling, accounting and treasury.


In Monday’s announcement, Wizz Air Group’s Chief Executive Officer, József Váradi, said,

He joins at an exciting time as Wizz Air drives long term growth based on a deep aircraft order book and ambitious expansion plans in Europe and the Middle East. I look forward to working with him in the coming years. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jourik for his contribution to the company over the past three years, probably the most challenging period for any airline CFO. I certainly wish him the very best for the future.”


Mr. Malin has a proven track record as a global finance executive and has held positions over the last 22 years with companies including KPMG, Allco Finance Group, Seabury, the AJW Group and Unical Aviation. He holds a Bachelors and Juris doctor degrees from Middlebury College and New York Law School.

Budapest, Hungary-based Wizz Air is the fastest growing European low-cost carrier (LCC) and operates an all Airbus A320 and A321 fleet of 157 aircraft.
