Wizz Air Announces the Launch of Five New Routes

Wizz Air has today announced the launch of five new routes, including summer service from Bulgaria to Santander, Corfu and Katowice, as well as from Milan Malpensa to Bilbao, and between Naples and Palma de Mallorca.

On Monday (January 12, 2026), Wizz Air announced the launch of five new routes for summer 2026.  Starting March 31, 2026, the carrier will launch new service from Sofia (Bulgaria) to Santander in Spain and Corfu in Greece.  From June 7, 2026, Wizz will also add new service between Varna (Bulgaria) and Katowice, Poland.  Flights between Sofia and Santander will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, while Sofia-Corfu flights will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Sundays, ands service between Varna and Katowice will operate two times per week on Thursdays and Sundays.  All new routes will be operate with an Airbus A321neo


In Monday’s announcement, Wizz Air’s Corporate Communications Manager, Gabriele Imperiale, said,


“We are delighted to welcome the new year with such a great news for our Bulgarian passengers.  The three new routes are further proof of our commitment to offering a wider choice of exciting travel opportunities at affordable prices, in line with our Customer First Compass transformation plan, which puts customers at first place.  With the introduction of the new routes, we now offer flights on 34 routes to 16 countries from Sofia and 17 routes to 9 countries from Varna.”


In a separate press release on Monday (January 12, 2026), Wizz Air also announced the launch of new service between Milan Malpensa and Bilbao, Spain.  Starting May 11, 2026, the route will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.  The new connection to Bilbao joins the eight existing routes to Spain, including Palma de Mallorca, Malaga, Valencia, Madrid, Barcelona, Tenerife, Alicante and Seville. 


Speaking on the new Bilbao service, Wizz Air’s Corporate Communications Manager, Salvatore Imperiale, said,


The new Milan Malpensa–Bilbao connection represents a key milestone in our expansion strategy in Italy, consolidating Wizz Air’s position as a leading operator at the airport.  With a network that now includes 42 international routes, we aim to strengthen connectivity to Spain and all Mediterranean countries—an area increasingly in demand among our passengers for its cultural and economic value.  This new route reflects our commitment to providing flexible and competitive travel solutions, with frequencies designed to meet both leisure and business travel needs.  Malpensa remains a central asset in our development plans: we will continue to enhance our fleet and services based at this airport to offer Lombardy travellers a modern and convenient flying experience. Destination Bilbao, Let’s WIZZ!”


In a third press release on Monday (January 12, 2026), Wizz Air further announced the launch of new service between Naples and Palma de Mallorca.  Starting May 12, 2026, the route will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.


Further commenting on the carrier’s new service between Naples and Palma de Mallorca, Wizz Air’s Mr. Imperiale, added,
