WestJet to Launch New Year Round Daily Service From Winnipeg to Montreal and Ottawa

WestJet is expanding their Winnipeg network with new year-round daily service to Montreal, along with increased daily year-round service to Ottawa from June 4, 2024.  The carrier will also launch seasonal Winnipeg-Nashville service starting September 16, 2024.

On Monday (April 8, 2024), WestJet announced an expansion of their Winnipeg network with new year-round daily service to Montreal, and an increase to daily the frequency to Ottawa starting June 3, 2024.  Additionally, WestJet will launch new highly-anticipated seasonal service between Winnipeg and Nashville, Tennessee (U.S.) from September 16, 2024, Winnipeg’s first transborder route.  WestJet’s Winnipeg expansion was announced at a special event at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport on Monday April 8th), attended by the Honourable Wab Kinew, Premier of Manitoba, Nick Hays, President and CEO, Winnipeg Airports Authority, and other dignitaries.


In Monday’s announcement, WestJet Group’s EVP and Chief Financial Officer, Mike Scott, said,


“We know how critical Ottawa and Montreal are for Winnipeg's business community, and we are thrilled to continue supporting Winnipeg's economic growth through strategic air service.  Expanding connectivity for Winnipeg is in direct response to our WestJet Rewards members and loyal business guests' need for reliable and convenient, non-stop service to and from both Ottawa and Montreal.”


Winnipeg Airports Authority’s President and CEO, Nick Hays, added,

With the addition of Montreal and Nashville, WestJet’s Winnipeg network grows to over 23 nonstop destinations.  Guests traveling from Winnipeg can also enjoy seamless one-stop connectivity via Calgary to global destinations, including Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Narita.

In 27 years of service, WestJet has cut airfares for Canadians in half and increased the flying population around Canada by over 50 percent.  The airline launched in 1996 with three aircraft, 250 employees and five destinations, and has now grown to more than 180 aircraft and 14,000 employees, offering service to over 100 destinations in 26 countries.
