WestJet has today announced the return on nonstop service between Edmonton International Airport and Kamloops, B.C., as well as the launch of new service to Prince George, B.C. Starting July, WestJet Encore will operate both routes twice weekly.

On Monday (May 19, 2025), WestJet announced the addition of two new domestic summer seasonal routes from Edmonton International Airport (YEG). Starting the first week of July, WestJet Encore will operate twice weekly service from Edmonton to both Kamloops and Prince George in British Columbia. The routes will be operated with a De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 (Q400) aircraft. This summer, WestJet will also increase capacity on two key domestic routes from Edmonton. WestJet will offer twice weekly Boeing 737 service to Nanaimo, B.C. and Yellowknife, more than doubling seat capacity. Historically, these routes were operated with a Q400 turboprop aircraft.
In Monday’s announcement, WestJet’s EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, John Weatherill, said,
“Restoring service to Kamloops and introducing service to Prince George is a direct reflection of Canadians' interest in exploring their own backyard this summer. With more flights and more seats in key Western Canadian markets, we’re giving Canadians better access to the destinations they rely on for business, leisure and visiting loved ones.”
Also commenting on WestJet’s new routes and added capacities, Edmonton International Airport’s VP – Air Service & Business Development, James Jackson, said,
“YEG welcomes more flights to more places, celebrating WestJet’s dedication to regional connectivity and additional options for Canadians to explore our beautiful country.
“Non-stop flights between Edmonton and Kamloops and Prince George offers travellers from British Columbia convenient access to world-class experiences and attractions in the Edmonton region, and connectivity to YEG’s vast network of global destinations. Likewise, people from Edmonton and surrounding communities can seamlessly reach more of British Columbia's breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture without the lengthy road trip.”

With 28 years of service, WestJet has cut airfares for Canadians in half and increased the flying population around Canada by over 50 percent. The airline launched in 1996 with three aircraft, 250 employees and five destinations, and has now grown to nearly 200 aircraft and 14,000 employees, offering service to over 100 destinations across North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.
