WestJet has today announced the signing of a new interline agreement with Copa Airlines. The new partnership will facilitate seamless connectivity between Canada and 27 destinations across Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and more.

On Thursday (August 28, 2025) WestJet announced the signing of a new interline partnership agreement with Copa Airlines, significantly enhancing connectivity across both airlines’ networks. The agreement will allow WestJet guests to seamlessly travel beyond the carrier’s newly announced destination, Panama City, with access to 37 Copa Airlines destinations across Central and South America. Additionally, inbound Copa guests to Canada will gain access to WestJet's extensive North American network. WestJet originally announced their new service between Calgary and Panama City beginning December 13, 2025, which will operate four times weekly for the winter 2025/26 season.
In Thursday’s announcement, WestJet’s EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, John Weatherill, said,
“Building on the announcement of our new direct service from Calgary to Panama City, this new interline partnership agreement will increase access to destinations across Central and South America for Canadian travellers. We remain focused on connecting guests to the world's most popular sun and leisure destinations this winter, while also meeting the needs of business travellers by continuing to provide convenient access to some of South America's largest markets.”
With new access to service between Calgary and Panama City, WestJet guests can now book a single ticket with a connected itinerary between WestJet and Copa Airlines’ networks with single point check-in and through-checked bags.
Over nearly 30 years of service, WestJet has cut airfares for Canadians in half and increased the flying population around Canada by over 50 percent. The airline launched in 1996 with three aircraft, 250 employees and five destinations, and has now grown to nearly 200 aircraft and 14,000 employees, offering service to over 100 destinations across North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. The WestJet Group includes WestJet Airlines, Sunwing Vacations Group and WestJet Cargo.
