On Wednesday (May 13, 2026), WestJet announced the appointment of Glen Hauenstein to their Board of Directors.  Mr. Hauenstein, formerly President of Delta Air Lines, was instrumental in leading Delta’s evolution from a primarily domestic carrier into a global airline, significantly expanding their international network, and strengthening strategic partnerships worldwide. His leadership helped set new industry standards in customer loyalty, revenue management, and premium service offerings.  WestJet also recently appointed Walter Cho of Korean Air to their Board, and has today further announced the retirement of Board Member Christoph Mueller.

In Wednesday’s announcement, WestJet Group’s Chairman of the Board, Chris Burley, said,

“I am pleased to welcome Glen and Walter to the WestJet Group Board.  Their combined years of experience in the aviation sector bring valuable industry perspective to the board and will strengthen the long-term growth plan of the WestJet Group.”

Also commenting on his appointment, WestJet Group’s newest Board Member, Glen Hauenstein, said,

“I am proud to join the WestJet Group Board as the airline continues to drive innovation and strengthen strategic partnerships, all with a continued commitment on delivering reliable air travel and long-term growth.”

WestJet Group also today recognized Christoph Mueller, who will be retiring from the Board of Directors on June 30, 2026, following six years of service.

Further speaking on Mr. Mueller’s retirement, WestJet Group’s Chairman, Chris Burley, added,

“I speak on behalf of the WestJet Group Board of Directors in thanking Christoph for the positive and lasting impact he has made on the company during his time with us.  Christoph’s expertise and strategic leadership were essential to advancing priorities and strengthening the organization.”

With over 30 years of service, WestJet has cut airfares for Canadians in half and increased the flying population around Canada by over 50 percent.  The airline launched in 1996 with three aircraft, 250 employees and five destinations, and has now grown to nearly 200 aircraft and 14,000 employees, offering service to over 100 destinations across North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.  The WestJet Group includes WestJet Airlines, Sunwing Vacations Group and WestJet Cargo.
