On Thursday (May 15, 2025), WestJet announced an expansion of their codeshare partnership with Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, offering guests connecting through Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), access to a broader network of European destinations.  Guests traveling on WestJet codeshare flights with Air France and KLM will enjoy the convenience of booking their entire itinerary on a single ticket, with a single seamless connection at CDG or AMS and baggage transfers, all while earning WestJet Rewards across their journey.  Guests flying WestJet’s new route from Halifax to Amsterdam can connect beyond AMS to 14 destinations across KLM’s network, including popular cities in Italy, Portugal and France.

In Thursday’s announcement, WestJet’s Director of Airport Affairs and Alliances, Jared Mikoch-Gerke, said,

“As part of our commitment to flying Canadians where they want to go, these expanded partnerships provide WestJet guests with more options to explore 59 sought-after European destinations this summer.

“With WestJet’s recent transatlantic network expansions, guests travelling from across the country will benefit from more choice and convenience when travelling through Paris and Amsterdam.  For guests originating in, or connecting through Atlantic Canada in particular, these enhancements are a gamechanger – offering guests travelling from or through Halifax and St. John's more destinations, fewer layovers and convenient access to Europe.”

With 28 years of service, WestJet has cut airfares for Canadians in half and increased the flying population around Canada by over 50 percent.  The airline launched in 1996 with three aircraft, 250 employees and five destinations, and has now grown to nearly 200 aircraft and 14,000 employees, offering service to over 100 destinations across North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.
