The airline will launch new service to Tulum in Mexico, as well as to the island of Grenada in the Caribbean. Additionally, WestJet will expand their transborder offer with new service to Fort Lauderdale, Florida from Vancouver and Winnipeg, with once weekly service from November 2024.
In Tuesday’s announcement, WestJet Group’s EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, John Weatherill, said,
“Our strategy to establish the WestJet Group as Canada's western leader and national leisure champion is working, as we continue to offer the most robust and affordable coast-to-coast schedule, fine-tuned to meet the needs of Canadian travellers. Cementing our position as the country's leading leisure airline, the WestJet Group will provide more seat capacity than any other airline to sun destinations this winter.”
For the winter season, WestJet will offer service to Tulum’s newly opened airport from both Calgary and Toronto. WestJet Vacations will also offer packages to 35 major hotels close to the Aeropuerto Internacional de Tulum Filipe Carillo (TQO). Additionally, WestJet will add once weekly service between Kelowna and Mazatlán, as well as between Winnipeg and Los Cabos. As previously mentioned, the carrier is also launching new service between Toronto and Grenada, the Caribbean island known for its spices, pristine beaches and stunning waterfalls. The route will operate once weekly for the winter season. Tickets to Grenada will become bookable in the coming weeks for travel from November 3, 2024, through April 27, 2025.
Commenting on WestJet’s new Grenada service, the Grenada Tourism Authority’s CEO, Petra Roach, said,
“With the addition of this new route, the WestJet Group expands accessibility to Grenada for Canadians, inviting them to explore the Spice Island's vibrant culture, pristine beaches, and lush landscapes. We're thrilled to partner with WestJet in welcoming travellers to discover Grenada's charm and hospitality.”
