On Monday (April 22, 2024), WestJet announced an expansion of their codeshare partnership with Korean Air which will see the addition of six more Asian destinations across four countries starting May 17, 2024.  WestJet guests will now enjoy access via Seoul Incheon International Airport to four more destinations, including Bangkok, Thailand (BKK), Da Nang (DAD), Hanoi (HAN) and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) in Vietnam, and Singapore (SIN).  Inbound customers to Seoul will enjoy seamless one-stop connectivity, with a single ticket, baggage transfers, and the ability to earn WestJet Dollars throughout the entire journey.

In Monday’s announcement, WestJet’s VP – Commercial Development and Strategic Partnerships, Jeff Hagen, said,

“As we prepare for WestJet’s inaugural flights between Calgary and Incheon, the timing of this codeshare expansion is ideal.  We are enhancing connectivity to more destinations in Asia for our guests and WestJet Rewards members from one of the world's busiest cities, and Korean Air’s global hub.  Our longstanding reciprocal partnership with Korean Air opens up exciting opportunities for leisure and business travellers to more locations in the Asian continent and offers new guests in Asia access to all of Canada through our global hub in Calgary.”

Also commenting on the expanded codeshare partnership, Korean Air’s SVP and Head of International Affairs and Alliance, Tae Joon Kim, added,

“We are excited to announce an expanded codeshare with our longstanding partner WestJet, offering our valued customers access to a wide range of transpacific destinations.  The launch of WestJet's Calgary - Seoul Incheon route will bolster connectivity between Korea and Canada, while our strengthened partnership will seamlessly connect customers to an expanded array of Asian and Canadian cities through our hubs in Incheon and Calgary, respectively.”

WestJet recently announced new seasonal service between Calgary International Airport (YYC) and Seoul Incheon (ICN).  The new route will launch on May 17, 2024, and will operate three times weekly during peak periods with a state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner.  Codeshare flights are now bookable through WestJet’s website and app, or via travel agent partners.
