Volotea has appointed Mike Powell as the carrier’s new Chief Financial Officer starting July 1st, 2021. Mr. Powell joins Volotea with 14 years of airline industry experience, previously serving as the Chief Financial Officer of WIZZ Air, which he took public in 2015.
On Tuesday (May 11, 2021), Volotea announced the appointment of airline industry veteran Mike Powell as the airline’s new Chief Financial Officer starting July 1st, 2021. Mr. Powell joins Volotea with 14 years of deep industry experience including serving as the CFO of WIZZ Air for eight years, where he guided the carrier through their IPO in 2015, which at the time was the largest-ever LCC initial public offering. Subsequently, he founded Argentina’s first low-cost carrier, Flybondi, where he has served as Executive Chairman for the last four years. Mr. Powell is also a Non-Executive Director of the Turkish carrier Pegasus Airlines. From 1993-2007, he worked as Head of Aviation Research for several leading investment banks in London and Madrid. Mike Powell holds a BSc in Management Sciences from the University of Manchester.
In Monday’s announcement, Volotea’s Founder and CEO, Carlos Muñoz, said,
