On Tuesday (July 18, 2023), Virgin Australia announced a significant expansion of their partnership with All Nippon Airways (ANA), which includes more codeshare flights, as well as member loyalty benefits. Velocity Frequent Flyer members can now earn Points and Status Credits when traveling with ANA to over 130 destinations throughout Japan, Asia, North America and Europe. The expanded commercial cooperation will also connect Virgin Australia guests to 12 domestic destinations in Japan following the launch of Virgin Australia’s launch of new service between Cairns and Tokyo-Haneda in June 2023. Guests will benefit from convenient one-stop connections with ANA via Tokyo-Haneda to Sapporo, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Osaka-Itami, Kochi, Kochi, Osaka-Kansai, Kumamoto, Nagoya, Nagasaki, Oita, Okinawa and Miyazaki.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Velocity Frequent Flyer’s CEO, Nick Rohrlach, said,

“We are incredibly excited to be expanding our partnership with ANA, creating more value and choice for our guests and members, as we connect them to more destinations than ever before. From today, our 11.5 million members can earn Points and Status Credits on flights to more than 130 additional destinations through ANA’s global network across Japan, Asia, North America and Europe. Following the commencement of our inaugural Cairns to Tokyo (Haneda) service last month, it is fantastic to be opening up more opportunities for our guests and members when travelling to, and within, Japan, with the nation’s largest airline.

“We are laser focused on securing new ways for our members to earn Points and we know that Japan is an Australian-favourite for holidaying and business travel. We are very proud of this partnership with ANA, All Nippon Airways, and look forward to seeing our guests and members enjoy the choice, benefits and rewards that the alignment offers.”

In celebration of the expanded partnership with ANA, Velocity Frequent Flyer members will earn 20 percent in bonus Points on eligible ANA operated flights between Sydney and Tokyo, if the offer is activated by August 1st, 2023, for travel from July 18th through December 31, 2023. Additionally, the partnership will see Velocity Silver, Gold and Platinum members traveling on an ANA operated flight with a Virgin Australia flight number, earning bonus Points on miles flown, in addition to base Points earned. Silver members will earn 50 percent bonus points, Gold members will earn 75 percent bonus Points, and Platinum members will earn 100 percent Bonus points. Velocity Gold and Platinum members traveling on select ANA flights will also enjoy benefits such as priority check-in, priority baggage and additional checked baggage allowance.
