United Airlines has today announced that their first Starlink-equipped mainline aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, will take flight on Wednesday (October 15th) with service between New York-Newark and Houston.

On Tuesday (October 14, 2025), United Airlines announced that their first Starlink-equipped mainline flight has been scheduled. Flight 2940, a Boeing 737-800, will depart New York/Newark (EWR) at 08:00 for Houston (IAH) on Wednesday morning, October 15, 2025. From Houston, the aircraft will fly to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) as flight 365, and then back to Houston as flight 445. This will mark the first time a major U.S. airline has offered Starlink Wi-Fi on a mainline flight with connectivity across both personal devices and inflight entertainment screens. United expects to install Starlink on up to 15 mainline 737-800 planes each month. Currently, over more half of airline’s regional fleet already offers Starlink connectivity. By the end of 2025, United expects to have an additional aircraft type certified to offer Starlink.
In Tuesday’s announcement, United Airlines’ Chief Customer Officer, David Kinzelman, said,
“We're committed to raising the bar when it comes to the onboard experience, and with Starlink, we're changing how people fly. Whether it's catching a live game, streaming an award show or working, United customers won't miss a beat when they're onboard a Starlink-equipped flight.”
Starlink Wi-Fi is free for United MileagePlus® members, which is free to join, and customers will receive a notification before their flight if the aircraft is equipped with Starlink. United’s first Starlink-equipped regional flight took place in May 2025, and the airline now has Starlink installed on over half of their regional fleet
The Starlink rollout across United’s fleet aligns with the carrier’s plans to have 300,000+ seatback screens across its fleet – more than any other U.S. airline. Over the last several years, United has invested billions of dollars in enhancing the guest experience.
