United Airlines Unveils New Summer 2024 Flights Across North America

For Summer 2024, United Airlines will launch over 100 new flights to cities across North America, including eight new routes to cities in Alaska and Canada, such as exclusive nonstop service between Washington D.C. and Anchorage, Alaska.

On Thursday (January 25, 2024), United Airlines announced that they will offer over 100 new flights to cities across the U.S. and Canada for summer 2024, including Anchorage and Fairbanks in Alaska, as well as Calgary, Vancouver and Halifax in Canada.  A highlight of the carrier’s summer schedule is new exclusive nonstop service between Washington D.C. and Anchorage.  The route will operate daily with a Boeing 737-8 MAX airplane.  Additionally, United will offer nearly 70 daily flights to national park destinations such as Bozeman and Kalispell (Montana) and Jackson Hole (Wyoming). 


The carrier will also remain the largest U.S carrier to Canada with over 150 daily flights to nine destinations from seven U.S. hub airports.  Thanks to a strong relationship with fellow Star Alliance member Air Canada, United customers can enjoy seamless one-stop connectivity to 25 additional Canadian cities, while enjoying MileagePlus and Aeroplan loyalty benefits.


In Thursday’s announcement, United Airlines’ SVP – Network Planning and Alliances, Patrick Quayle, said,


“We know people want to get outdoors this summer and United is making it easier than ever to get to fun destinations across North America.  From adding non-stop service to places previously only reachable through multiple connections to leveraging our relationships with airline partners like Air Canada, we’re giving customers lots of options to unlock new experiences.”



From May 2024, United will resume flights between Halifax and New York/Newark, Vancouver and Washington D.C., Winnipeg and Denver, and from Chicago to Winnipeg and Quebec City.  The carrier will also upgauge aircraft on the routes to Edmonton and Montreal from both Denver and Newark, while adding more flights to Toronto, Calgary and Ottawa. 


United will also offer an average of 10 daily flights to Alaska this summer, including the only direct flight between Washington D.C. and Anchorage, as well as service from Denver to Fairbanks starting May 23, 2024.  In total, United’s Denver and Houston hubs will see over 40 new North American flights, while Washington D.C. and Chicago will each have more than 20 new flights.  For summer 2024, United will offer over 500 daily departures from Denver, with more than 100 mainline routes, including additional daily flights to Vail, Sun Valley and Kalispell/Glacier.  Additionally, service between Denver and Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport will operate five times daily from mid-May, and nonstop year-round flights between Denver and Winnipeg will resume on May 23rd for the first time since 2020.


In May 2024, the carrier will also resume nonstop service between Houston and Ontario (California) from the first time since 2022.  In total, United will fly 100 routes with dual cabin aircraft from Houston this summer, and will add over 40 new routes from Houston to popular U.S. destinations, such as Tampa, Boston, Charleston and Miami.


Chicago residents will also have access to over 500 daily nonstop flights, including 20 new flights and resumed service to Winnipeg and Quebec City, along with increased flying to Toronto and Montreal.  The carrier is also adding more flights from Chicago to Yellowstone National Park (BZN), Aspen, San Jose, New York, and Panama City in Florida.  As United continues to take delivery of new Airbus A321neos, customers departing Chicago can enjoy that ‘new airplane smell’ on routes to San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Orlando, Phoenix and Fort Myers.


In addition to the new Anchorage service, Washington/Dulles will see resumed daily nonstop seasonal service to Vancouver, which will be operated with a Boeing 737-8 MAX.  Additional flights will also be added to cities across the U.S. such as Phoenix, Kansas City (MO), San Antonio and New Orleans. 

United is also adding 10 new summer flights from Los Angeles, along with more flights to Honolulu, Kauai, Baltimore and Boise.  Guests departing San Francisco will also enjoy additional daily flights to Calgary and Honolulu this summer.


From New York/Newark, the carrier will resume seasonal nonstop service to Halifax on May 23rd, and will also begin using mainline aircraft to Montreal from August. Additionally, United will increase from daily to twice daily the number of flights from Newark to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport during peak summer season.
