Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Transition to Shared Passenger Service System; Oneworld Welcomes Hawaiian Airlines

Alaska Air Group has announced that Hawaiian has now transitioned to the same Sabre passenger service system (PSS) used by Alaska Airlines, with both airlines now operating under the IATA ‘AS’ code. Today, oneworld has also welcomed Hawaiian to the alliance.

On Wednesday (April 22, 2026), Alaska Air Group announced that Hawaiian Airlines has transitioned to the same Sabre passenger service system (PSS) used by Alaska Airlines. While Alaska and Hawaiian are maintaining their unique brand experiences, all flights now carry the ‘AS’ code assigned by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Hawaiian and Alaska are now welcoming guests in shared airport lobbies to simplify the check-in process in major cities including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York‑JFK, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose and Seattle.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Alaska Air Group’s CEO, Ben Minicucci, said,
“We’re doing something that no other U.S. airline has done before: Operating multiple brands on a single platform, and giving guests a smoother experience when they fly with Alaska and Hawaiian around the world. Credit to our teams who have worked for more than a year on this milestone that removes friction and unlocks the full strength of our combination moving forward.”
In a separate announcement on Thursday (April 23, 2026), oneworld announce that Hawaiian Airlines has become the alliance’s newest member airline, becoming the third U.S.-based carrier, alongside Alaska Airlines and American Airlines, and adding Honolulu as a global huub. With Hawaiian Airlines, oneworld’s global network now offers greater travel opportunities across the Hawaiian Islands and new destinations in the Pacific including Hilo (Hawaii), Rarotonga (Cook Islands), Pago Pago (American Samoa), and Papeete (Tahiti).
In Thursday’s announcement, oneworld’s CEO, Ole Orvér, said,
“We are delighted to officially welcome Hawaiian Airlines into the oneworld family, further strengthening our alliance’s footprint in the Pacific region and the United States. Renowned for its award-winning service for almost 100 years, Hawaiian Airlines will make travel to the beautiful islands of Hawai‘i more connected and rewarding for oneworld customers, delivering an elevated journey that brings the spirit of aloha to our alliance.”
Also commenting on the new oneworld membership, Hawaiian Airlines’ CEO, Diana Birkett Rakow, said,
“We are thrilled to join this extended ‘ohana, or family of the world’s best airlines. oneworld brings significant global travel benefits to our guests, including Atmos Rewards loyalty members and Hawai‘i residents.
