United Airlines Launches Largest Ever Transatlantic Schedule for Summer 2024

United Airlines has debuted their summer 2024 transatlantic schedule, their largest ever, with direct service to 38 cities. The schedule includes new exclusive service to Faro, Portugal, as well as new flights to Reykjavik, Brussels, Rome, and Malaga.

On Thursday (October 26, 2023), United Airlines announced their largest ever transatlantic schedule for summer 2024. The schedule includes the first and only direct flight between New York/Newark and Faro, Portugal, as well as new service to Reykjavik, Brussels, Rome, and Malaga. Additionally, nine popular seasonal routes to destinations in Portugal, Italy, France, and Spain will return up to two months early. United offers service to more transatlantic destinations than all other U.S. airlines and is also the only carrier directly connecting the U.S. with Dubrovnik, Malaga, Mallorca, and Tenerife.


In Thursday’s announcement, United’s SVP – Global Network Planning and Alliances, Patrick Quayle, said,

Whether customers are looking to travel during peak season or shoulder season, visit the most popular tourism destinations or discover a hidden gem, the scope and scale of our network makes United the easy choice for transatlantic travel.”

United’s new exclusive service between Newark and Faro, Portugal will debut on May 24, 2024, and the route will operate four times weekly with a Boeing 757-200. Seasonal service between Newark and Reykjavik will operate daily with a Boeing 757-200 from May 23, 2024. From March 30, 2024, United will add a second weekly frequency between Newark and Brussels with a Boeing 757-200, while a second daily frequency between Washington/Dulles and Rome will commence on May 23rd with a Boeing 767-300. Additionally, United will increase frequencies between Newark and Malaga to daily service with a Boeing 757-200 from May 2, 2023. As previously mentioned, the carrier will also start seasonal routes up to two months earlier, as shown in the accompanying list.

United’s Pacific network will also grow by over 30 percent for summer 2024, with nonstop service to 15 destinations, including new service between from San Francisco to Manila and Beijing. The carrier will also grow their Latin American and Caribbean schedule by 10 percent next summer, including new service from Denver to San Juan and Montego Bay, as well as from Newark to Barbados and Curaçao.
