On Wednesday (May 12, 2021), United Airlines announced that starting June 1st, customers will once again be able to purchase beer, wine and snacks on most flights over two hours. United is also introducing White Claw® Hard Seltzer, the first major airline to offer the popular brand onboard. Starting June 15, 2021, United will also offer a re-vamped menu of for-purchase snacks and brand new premium meal options on most flights over 1,500 miles, and hub-to-hub flights over 800 miles or more than two hours. All items will be available for purchase via the carrier’s new mobile wallet technology.

In Wednesday’s announcement, United Airlines’ Chief Customer Officer, Toby Enqvist, said,

“We know that having a wide variety of gourmet food and beverage options is important to our customers and we look forward to introducing these exciting, new options to enhance their flying experience. Our new contactless payment technology enables us to safely introduce this new menu on select flights as we continue to see more customer return to flying.”

United’s new revamped adult beverage menu includes White Claw® Mango, Breckenridge Brewery Juice Drop Hazy IPA, Kona Brewing Co. Big Wave Golden Ale, Michelob Ultra®, and Stella Artois® , as well as red, white and sparkling wine options.

The airline is also introducing new snack boxes, offering three distinct experiences for travelers of all ages and tastes. The Tapas Box includes hummus, bruschetta, breadstick crackers, flatbread crackers, sea salt almonds, olives, dark chocolate and dark chocolate sea salt caramel. The Takeoff Box features salami, apricots, gouda cheese spread, white cheddar cheese spread, multi-grain crackers, cream crackers, smoked almonds and Toblerone®. The third new snack box, the Recline Box, includes Pirate’s Booty® with cheddar puffs, honey mustard pretzels, gummi bears and OREO® cookies.

In addition to the popular Pringles® Classic potato chips, United is also adding three new a-la-carte snacks to their menu, including high-protein and gluten-free options. The new menu includes Trü Frü Banana Bites (hyper-dried bananas covered in dark chocolate), a Food Should Taste Good Chips & Salsa Box (gluten-free sweet potato ‘tortilla’ chips with roasted pepper salsa) and GourmetNut Mega Omega Trail Mix (a snack mix with walnuts, dried mango, almonds, cranberries and pumpkin seeds).

United’s contactless payment system allows customers to store their payment information in a digital wallet on the United app and on united.com prior to departure. Once in flight, customers can access a menu and view available items on either the United app or in Hemispheres and rather than handing the flight attendant a credit card, the flight attendant will ask the customers name and seat to confirm the card on file. Once confirmed, the customer will receive their order and the card will be charged.

Finally, United is also introducing brand-new meal offerings for customers seated in premium domestic cabins on flights over 1,500 miles and hub-to-hub flights over 800 miles. The enhanced meal service features a choice of entrees including fresher options such as an egg scramble with plant-based chorizo and grilled chicken breast with orzo and lemon basil pesto, accompanied by side items and a dessert. Additionally, United has partnered with Eli’s cheesecake to create a bespoke United chocolate pie flavor called ‘Pie in the Sky.’ All meals will be served on a single tray with individually wrapped items, limiting person-to-person contact and furthering the safety of guests and team members.

United Airlines’ shared purpose is “Connecting People. Uniting the World.” Shares in the company’s parent, United Airlines Holdings, Inc., are publicly traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol ‘UAL.’
