United Airlines and fellow Star Alliance member Singapore Airlines will expand their codeshare agreement to include more cities in the U.S., South East Asia and other destinations in the Asia-Pacific region.
On Monday (April 25, 2022), United Airlines announced that they will expand their existing codeshare arrangement with Singapore Airlines (SIA) to include 19 additional destinations. From April 26, 2022, United Airlines’ customers will be able to connect to nine new codeshare destinations in SIA’s network including Bandar Seri Begawan (Brunei), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Kuala Lumpur and Penang (Malaysia) and Denpasar (Bali), Jakarta and Surabaya (Indonesia). Additionally, customers will be able to connect to Perth in Australia, as well as Male in the Maldives with Singapore Airlines.
In today’s announcment, United Airlines’ Senior Vice President of International Network and Alliances, Patrick Quayle, said,
“United continues to provide critical links to Asia and we are the only US airline flying direct to Singapore from the US, with our nonstop San Francisco – Singapore flight. We are excited to further expand our partnership with Singapore Airlines and provide our customers greater convenience and access to world-class destinations in the region.”
Likewise, SIA customers will be able to connect to 10 additional U.S. destinations in United’s network via Los Angeles with codeshare flights to Austin, Baltimore, Boise, Cleveland, Denver Honolulu, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Reno and Sacramento. The new routes complement existing codeshare connections via Houston to Atlanta, Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, New Orleans, Orlando and Tampa.
Also commenting on the codeshare expansion, Singapore Airlines’ SVP – Marketing Planning, JoAnn Tan, said,
“SIA's partnership with United is an integral part of our growth strategy. The expansion of the codeshare arrangement will provide both SIA and United customers with a greater array of choices and connections, as well as seamless transfers for their business or leisure travel. This will also help to strengthen the deep and long-standing ties between Singapore and the US.”
United and SIA customers will also be able to earn and redeem points while flying the new codeshare flights on either airline. The new flights will progressively be available for sale on the airlines’ respective websites, subject to regulatory approval.
