Regional aircraft lessor TrueNoord has today announced the delivery of a brand new ATR42-600 on long-term lease to Afrijet Business Service S. A., operating as FLYGABON.

On Monday (August 4, 2025), TrueNoord, a specialist regional aircraft leasing company, announced the delivery of a factory-new ATR42-600 (MSN 1801) on long-term lease to Afrijet Business Service S.A., operating as FLYGABON. This is also the first ATR aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127XT engines in TrueNoord’s rapidly expanding fleet. The enhanced engine type delivers greater value to regional airlines through operational cost savings thanks to extended intervals between overhauls and reduced direct maintenance costs, as well as lower fuel consumption and reduced CO₂ emissions. With this delivery, Afrijet completes their fleet transition from ATR-500 series to the latest generation of turboprop aircraft.
In Monday’s announcement, TrueNoord’s Sales Director – Africa, the Middle East and CIS, Maarten Grift, said,
“Our commitment to finding financial solutions that underpin airlines’ growth ambitions in Africa is robust. TrueNoord is delighted to welcome Afrijet Business Service as a new lessee and to support their fleet modernisation. We thank the experienced Afrijet Business Service team for the confidence they have placed in TrueNoord, and we look forward to continuing our partnership for many years to come. Leasing this latest technology, fuel-efficient turboprop to Afrijet Business Service is part of our strategy to support the continuous improvement of the regional fleet operating in Africa.”
Also commenting on the ATR42-600 delivery, Afrijet Business Service’s Chairman of the Board, Marc Gaffajioli, added,
“This versatile aircraft will mainly fly domestic routes within Gabon, and it has the ability to serve remote destinations. Thanks to the delivery of this aircraft, Afrijet Business Service now has the youngest ATR-600 series fleet in Africa. It is the most modern and fuel-efficient turboprop currently in production and we have worked very closely with the team at TrueNoord to streamline our fleet with this tailored financing solution and swift execution. We have built a great relationship.”
With the new aircraft delivery, Afrijet Business Service /FLYGABON becomes the fifth African airline to join TrueNoord’s customer base on the continent, increasing the lessor’s fleet across the region to ten aircraft.
TrueNoord is a rapidly growing regional aircraft leasing company with offices in Amsterdam, Dublin, London and Singapore. The lessor invests heavily in the latest technology turboprops and regional jet aircraft. TrueNoord is supported by cornerstone investors including Freshstream, BlackRock, abrdn / PATRIA, and others. TrueNoord’s fleet of new and in-production aircraft include models in the 50-150 seat class from manufacturers including ATR, Airbus, Embraer, and De Havilland Canada.
