TAP Air Portugal Launches New Direct Service Between Porto and Boston

TAP Air Portugal now flies directly between Porto and Boston, with the inaugural service, flight TP227, touching down in Boston on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 20:45. The route will now operate four times weekly with an Airbus A321 Long Range (LR).

On Wednesday (May 14, 2025), TAP Air Portugal announced the launch of their inaugural nonstop flight between Porto and Boston, with flight TP227 touching down at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) on Wednesday evening at 20:45. Flights will now operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays with an Airbus A321LR until October 25, 2025. Flights will depart Porto between 17:40 and 18:15, and arrive in Boston between 20:20 and 20:45. The return flights will depart Boston between 22:55 and 23:15, and will touch down back in Porto between 22:25 and 22:55 the next day.
An inauguration event took place at place at the boarding gate at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto on Wednesday, was attended by the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Hugo Espírito Santo, Luís Rodrigues, President of TAP, and Thierry Liggonière, CEO of ANA Airports.
Speaking at the event, TAP Air Portugal’s President, Luís Rodrigues, said,
“TAP contributes to bringing Porto closer to the rest of the world, favoring the mobility of residents and communities, while capturing and attracting important North American and Brazilian tourist flows to Porto and Northern Portugal, relevant to the region's economy. In addition, the TAP Group employs 368 workers at its base in Porto, also indirectly generating hundreds of jobs related to aviation, our suppliers and service providers and the tourism sector.”
Also commenting on the launch of Boston service, ANA Airports’ CEO, Thierry Liggoniêre,
added,
“This inaugural flight to Boston is a milestone that we are very proud of, the result of continuous and collaborative work with TAP Air Portugal as strategic partners. We congratulate TAP for this commitment to Porto, which not only reinforces our connection to the North American market and the Portuguese diaspora but also confirms the role of Porto Airport as a strategic platform for the development of new international routes, with a focus on quality of service and sustainability.”
As previously mentioned, TAP's Porto-Boston route will operate with a 168-seat Airbus A321LR featuring 16 Business Class seats. Flights are now available for booking with return fares from €529. TAP also offers service between Porto and New York-Newark (EWR), as well as from Lisbon to Boston, Chicago, Miami, Newark, New York, San Francisco and Washington DC. Starting May 16, 2025, TAP will also launch flights between Lisbon and Los Angeles, and from June 3rd, one of TAP’s weekly flights between and San Francisco, on Tuesdays, will make an interim stop in Terceira.
