On Wednesday (August 31, 2022), Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) announced the introduction of the latest chapter of their popular ‘SWISS Taste of Switzerland’ inflight foodservice program. For the next three months, SWISS First and Business Class guests will enjoy culinary delights created in collaboration with Zurich’s traditional Baur au Lac Hotel. The new dishes have been created by top Chefs Laurent Eperon and Maximilian Müller of the hotel’s Pavillon gourmet restaurant. SWISS Premium Economy travelers can also enjoy a range of food specialties inspired by the Zurich region.

In Wednesday’s announcement, SWISS’ Head of Brand Experience, Julia Hillenbrand, said,

“SWISS and the Baur au Lac are both closely connected with Zurich, and both put a firm and consistent emphasis on tradition and top quality. I am delighted that we will be offering our guests the culinary creations of these award-winning chefs from this leading Zurich establishment over the next three months.”

Also commenting on the culinary collaboration, Chef de Cuisine Laurent Eperon added,

“High quality combined with top-notch service are becoming more and more important to more and more people. At the Baur au Lac we’ve been providing both for over 175 years now. So we’re especially pleased to have the opportunity, through our team-up with SWISS, to offer this experience to guests beyond our hotel, too.”

The traditional five-star Baur au Lac Hotel, located beside Lake Zurich, is committed to the highest product quality and service, just like SWISS. Chefs Laurent Eperon and Maximilian Müller of the two-Michelin-star and 18-GaultMillau-point Pavillon restaurant will be treating SWISS’ premium travelers on long-haul flights departing Switzerland to their contemporary interpretation of French haute cuisine. For their carefully curated menus, the duo has also drawn strongly on specialties from Canton Zurich.

Over the last 20 years, SWISS has been taking long-haul First, Business Class and Premium Economy Class guests on a journey of culinary discovery throughout Switzerland’s various regions. Every three months, a new Michelin-starred and Gaultmillau-point top chef is invited to present creations inspired by their home canton to SWISS passengers aloft, by creating a selection of top quality meals, with a focus on regional and seasonal specialties. The bespoke meals are also accompanied by wine and cheese specialties of the specific region. Since launching in December 2002, the SWISS Taste of Switzerland program has welcomed 75 guest chefs from each of Switzerland’s 26 cantons.
