SWISS’ First Direct Flight From Zurich to Seoul Takes to the Skies

Swiss International Air Lines' inaugural flight between Zurich and Seoul took off on Thursday, May 9, 2024, marking the first time that Koreans can fly directly to Switzerland with SWISS.

On Thursday (May 9, 2024), Lufthansa Group announced the inaugural direct Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) flight, LX123, between Zurich and Seoul, South Korea, a first for the Swiss carrier.  Zurich offers stunning natural beauty, culture and modernity, serving as a popular destination for tourists and business travelers alike.  South Korea is Switzerland’s fourth largest trading partner in Asia, and last year the two countries celebrated 60 years of bilateral relations, and the exchange of ideas in areas such as education, economics and culture.  The new nonstop Zurich-Seoul route will further strengthen the ties between the two nations.

In Thursday’s announcement, SWISS’ General manager – Korea, Mr. Leandro Tonidandel, said,

“We are delighted to welcome SWISS to Korea.  With 17 weekly flights, Lufthansa Group now operates non-stop services to Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich where we offer Korean passengers direct connections from our hubs to the largest network in Europe.  We have connected Korea with Europe for 40 years and the introduction of flights with the national airline of Switzerland represents our commitment to this important market.”

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is the leading carrier in Switzerland, connecting Zurich and Geneva to the world with one of Europe’s most advanced aircraft fleets.  The premium airline also operates Swiss WorldCargo, which offers an extensive range of airport-to-airport airfreight services for high-value, time-sensitive and car-intensive consignments.  As SWISS connects the world to Switzerland and Switzerland to the world, the airline embodies their home country’s traditional values of delivering the highest quality products and services.  Swiss International Air Lines is part of the Lufthansa Group, and is also a member of Star Alliance.
