For this year’s winter chapter of Swiss International Air Lines popular ‘SWISS Taste of Switzerland’ culinary program aloft, SWISS will serve culinary creations from the Kempinski Palace Engelberg hotel in Canton Obwalden.
On Wednesday (December 6, 2023), Swiss International Airlines unveiled the latest chapter of their popular ‘SWISS Taste of Switzerland’ onboard culinary program. This year’s winter offer features dishes inspired by Canton Obwalden. First and Business Class guests traveling on long-haul flights departing Switzerland will enjoy culinary delights created by Michéle Müller, Executive Chef at the luxury Kempinski Palace Engelberg hotel. SWISS Premium Economy travelers will also be offered a three course meal that draws its inspiration from the Obwalden region.
In Wednesday’s announcement, SWISS’ Head of Brand Experience, Julia Hillenbrand, said
“We are delighted to be able to offer our inflight guests these creations by Michéle Müller. Michéle works with surprising ingredients, and interprets classic dishes with her own distinctive flair. So our passengers can look forward to some genuine culinary highlights from the Kempinski Palace Engelberg’s five-star kitchens.”
Also commenting on the onboard culinary collaboration, Chef Michéle Müller, added,
“I spent several years cooking in the Middle East, and my experiences there made a lasting impression on me. That’s why I like to develop my dishes with exotic spices that breathe new life into classic concoctions. And I’m honoured that I can now share my creations with SWISS’s passengers, too.”
Chef Müller’s main course Business Class creations include a beef tenderloin served with za’atar spices and date jus, mashed potato with harissa, carrots and Romanesco. SWISS First Class guests can choose the salmon trout with Beurre noisette with smoked almond cream, parsley potatoes and cauliflower. Premium Economy travelers will be offered a three course meal inspired by the Obwalden region that includes marinated chicken with honey and a lentil ragout, Obwalden cheese and a dessert of chocolate gingerbread with red wine pear compote.
Launched in 2002, SWISS’s award-winning ‘SWISS Taste of Switzerland’ inflight culinary program has been inviting a new top chef from a selected Swiss canton aboard every three months, to present and share Switzerland’s gastronomic diversity aloft. The meals are also accompanied by wine and cheese specialties from the featured region. To date, SWISS taste of Switzerland has welcomed 81 guest chefs representing each of Switzerland’s 26 cantons.
