SWISS has announced an extension of their longstanding partnership with Helvetic Airways for five more years. Under the wet-lease agreement, Helvetic will operate up to 15 aircraft one behalf of SWISS throughout Europe.
On Tuesday (October 1st, 2024), Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) announced a further five year extension of their successful longstanding partnership with Helvetic Airways. Under the wet-lease agreement, Helvetic will operate up to 15 fuel efficient Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft on behalf of SWISS across SWISS’ European network. The carrier will operate up to nine aircraft on behalf of SWISS for the winter 2024/25 season, and up to 15 aircraft on SWISS routes for the busier summer 2025 schedule.
In Tuesday’s announcement, SWISS’ Chief Commercial Officer, Heike Birlenbach, said,
“Helvetic Airways fully and consistently meets all our high safety standards and all our premium aspirations, and is well liked by our customers. I’m delighted that we can now extend our successful partnership. Our collaboration not only enables us to cover our operating peaks: with Helvetic’s smaller aircraft, we can also serve destinations for which our own SWISS aircraft would be too big.”
Also commenting on the partnership extension, Helvetic Airways’ CEO, Tobias Pogorevc, added,
“We are proud that the partnership which SWISS and Helvetic Airways have cultivated since 2007 will now be further extended and expanded. This confirms to us that we consistently meet SWISS’s high quality and reliability standards, and that our advanced regional twinjets ideally supplement the SWISS aircraft fleet.”
Swiss regional airline Helvetic Airways provides a range of short and medium-haul routes from various Swiss airports with scheduled, charter and wet-lease flights. Helvetic Airways operates a fleet of Embraer E190/195s and E190-E2s and E195-E2s, with up to 15 aircraft operated on behalf of Swiss International Air Lines under a long term wet-lease agreement. Helvetic Airways employs over 510 team members, and also operates their own MRO facility at Zurich Airport, also home to their future corporate head office. Since 2008, Helvetic Airways has worked closely with Horizon Swiss Flight Academy AG, which is based in Kloten, Switzerland. Both companies are part of the Helvetic Airways Group, which is domiciled in Freienbach, Switzerland.
