On Monday (March 25, 2024), Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) announced that they will extend their partnership with Swiss food manufacturer Delica for a further three years.  Since 2015, the company has provided the world-famous ‘SWISS Schöggeli’ milk chocolate bars from Frey, which are offered to guests on every SWISS flight.  The complimentary pre-landing treat has become a popular tradition at SWISS, and has long become a fixture of the airline’s onboard service.  In addition to the classic version, the delicious SWISS Schöggeli is also produced in special seasonal editions for Christmas and Easter.

In Monday’s announcement, SWISS’ Chief Commercial Officer, Heike Birlenbach, said,

“Switzerland is famed the world over for its chocolate.  So, with our being a Swiss airline, our ‘SWISS Schöggeli’ are not just a delight: they’re also a tradition, and a little piece of Switzerland aloft. And I’m very pleased that we can now continue to offer our inflight guests this top-quality Frey chocolate treat.”

Delica’s Head of Key Account Management – Business Management Food, Daniel Meier, added,

“We are proud to extend our collaboration with SWISS for a further three years.  For us, this is a confirmation of the consistently high quality of the product and the service we provide.  And we look forward to continuing to treat SWISS travellers from all over the globe to our chocolates.”

SWISS cabin crew members have handed out 19.3 million SWISS Schöggeli milk chocolates, around 270 tonnes worth, to guests last year alone.  The Frey chocolate bars are made with cocoa which has been certified by the Rainforest Alliance.
