On Tuesday (July 5, 2022), Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) announced an expansion of their winter 2022/23 season schedule. The carrier will serve 93 destinations from Zurich and Geneva and will operate with a total capacity of approximately 80 percent of 2019 levels. Additionally, starting February 4, 2023, SWISS will launch new once-weekly service between Zurich and Bristol, England. The route will be operated with a SWISS Airbus A220 or an Embraer E190 of wet-lease partner Helvetic Airways. Summer service to Bologna, Nantes, Sofia and Vilnius will also be continued for the winter timetable. From Geneva, the carrier will expand service to Scandinavia, and new direct service to Brussels introduced this summer in collaboration with Brussels Airlines will continue for winter. SWISS will also expand service to Belgrade, Porto, Alicante, Barcelona and Málaga, while Bangkok flights will receive daily service again and flights to Singapore, Delhi and Mumbai will each operate six times weekly.

In Tuesday’s announcment, SWISS’ Chief Commercial Officer, Tamur Goudarzi Pour, said,

“Given this summer’s difficult operating situation throughout Europe’s air transport sector, we are focusing on further stabilizing our SWISS services in the coming winter schedules. In doing so, we’ll be offering our customers a range of flights that’s actually more extensive than it was before the pandemic. In Europe in particular we’re providing an attractive choice of destinations for the colder season. At the same time, though, we’ve been conservative in our planning and have reduced our flight programme by a number of frequencies, to ensure that we can keep our schedules as stable as possible.”

In total, SWISS will offer 83 destinations from Zurich including 61 European and 22 intercontinental routes, as well as 26 European destinations from Geneva. For winter, SWISS will also add one more weekly frequency between Geneva and Stockholm, as well as three additional weekly frequencies to both Gothenburg and Copenhagen. Additionally, SWISS guests will enjoy Premium Economy Class for the first time this winter onboard the carrier’s Boeing 777 long-haul fleet.
