SWISS has announced an expansion of their SWISS Air Rail network partnership with Swiss Federal Railways with the addition of Grindelwald. The intermodal network now includes 25 destinations across Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

On Thursday (March 26, 2026), Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) announced an expansion of their intermodal SWISS Air Rail network with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). Following the addition of Interlaken in December 2022, SWISS is now extending its offering in the Bernese Oberland to include Grindelwald. This expansion is made possible through a new partnership with Jungfrau Railways, which operate the rail connection between Interlaken and Grindelwald.
The new connection is available immediately. Tickets for the new destination are now bookable, and expands the SWISS Air Rail network to 25 destinations.
In Thursday’s announcement, SWISS’ Chief Customer Officer, Heike Birlenbach, said,
“Grindelwald and the Jungfrau region represent what many international guests associate with Switzerland: breathtaking alpine landscapes, unspoiled nature, and authentic Swiss experiences. The appeal is correspondingly strong – a large proportion of our guests come from abroad, particularly from the UK, the USA, and Asia. Our long-haul network connects directly here, bringing the world even closer to this region.”
Also commenting on the new connectivity to Grindelwald, Jungfrau Railways’ Head of Marketing & Sales, Remo Käser, added,
“The Jungfrau region and the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe – rank among Switzerland’s most visited destinations. We are delighted that international guests can now travel even more comfortably, feel at home in this unique mountain landscape from the very start, and easily discover the highlights of the Jungfrau region.”

Passengers traveling with SWISS Air Rail enjoy an exceptionally convenient journey, as all necessary travel documents are issued directly by SWISS. When booking their flight, travelers can select their preferred railway station as the departure or arrival point, and the boarding pass is valid for the entire journey. The rail ticket can be used flexibly, either from the day before departure or up to the day after arrival. SWISS also provides a guaranteed connection in the event of delays. Miles & More members earn miles and points on their Air Rail ticket, and passengers traveling in SWISS Business or First Class automatically enjoy first-class travel on the SBB train.
