On Wednesday (May 23, 2023), Sun Country Airlines announced the extension of their selling schedule through April 2024. The carrier will also launch service between Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport (MSP) and Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten. The route will operate once weekly on Saturdays from January 13th through April 6th, 2024. In addition to serving over 50 direct destinations from MSP for the winter 2023/24 season, Sun Country also offers more nonstop service from MSP to Florida, the Caribbean and Mexico than any other airline.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Sun Country Airlines’ SVP and Chief Revenue Officer, Grant Whitney, said,

“Sun Country is focused on continuing to grow our schedule offerings in MSP. With this schedule extension, we are giving customers more flights and choices in existing markets. We are also very excited to welcome St. Maarten back to the Sun Country network.”

Sun Country is also adding more flights and new destinations from Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE). The carrier will resume nonstop seasonal service to Cancun (CUN), which will operate daily by March 2024, as well as service to Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers, Florida. Sun Country will also add flights from MKE to Orlando (MCO) and Phoenix (PHX). The airline also serves Eau Claire, Green Bay and Madison in Wisconsin.

Also commenting on Sun Country’s expanded service from Milwaukee, MKE’s Airport Director, Brian Dranzik, said,

“Mexico, Florida, and Arizona are the most popular winter destinations for Milwaukee-based travelers, and we’re pleased Sun Country is providing additional low-fare options to these family-friendly warm weather destinations. It’s great to see that Sun Country is increasing its Cancun service to daily, which will give more travelers the opportunity to hit the beach with just one easy flight from MKE.”
