Spirit Airlines has today unveiled their next major guest experience enhancements with a new extra legroom seating option, and reimagined Free Spirit® loyalty program. The enhanced ‘Go Comfy’ travel option will be available for booking from May 15th.

On Tuesday (May 13, 2025), Spirit Airlines unveiled their next major guest experience enhancements with the introduction of a reimagined extra legroom ‘Go Comfy’ seating option, as well as a revamped Free Spirit® loyalty program. Go Comfy seats will be available for booking from May 15th for travel from June 9, 2025. The expanded Free Spirit benefits, including exclusive new loyalty perks never offered before, expanded redemption options, seat upgrades, two free checked bags benefit and more are effective immediately.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ SVP and Chief Commercial Officer, Rana Ghosh, said,
“Spirit’s new premium options offer travelers exceptional value, and we’re creating even more opportunities for Guests to experience them with our new extra-legroom seating option. We’re also adding more value and perks for our loyalty members at a time when others are taking away benefits, giving our most loyal Guests even more reasons to choose Spirit.”
Go Comfy reimagined with the addition of new extra legroom will offer guests four additional inches of legroom with a new generous pitch of 32 inches. The new preferred seating option will include seven rows near the front of the aircraft with over 40 seats. Installation of the extra legroom seating will start in June and will be rolled out across the majority of Spirit’s fleet by July 2025, with the remaining installations expected in 2026. Along with extra space, Go Comfy includes a carry-on bag, no change or cancel fees, Priority Boarding, reserved overhead bin space, a snack and non-alcoholic beverage.
Spirit has also reimagined their Free Spirit loyalty program with upgraded benefits for Free Spirit Status members and Free Spirit® Travel More Mastercard® cardholders. Guests can now redeem all four travel options, including premium options such as Go Big and Go Comfy using Free Spirit Points, excluding taxes and fees (T&Cs apply). Free Spirit Status members and credit card holders will also enjoy complimentary upgrades to Big Front Seat and Comfy Seat at boarding, based on availability and status level, with the benefits extended to one Guest on the member’s reservation starting in June.
Additionally, later this year, Free Spirit Travel More Mastercard cardholders will enjoy two free checked bags. Customers can also earn on everyday purchases with the new Free Spirit Debit Card, which is scheduled to launch this Fall. This will allow anyone to earn Free Spirit points on their everyday spending and redeem points for travel, while receiving Group 2 Priority Boarding and a 25 percent rebate on inflight purchases.
Free Spirit Gold and Silver Status members will continue to enjoy all existing benefits, including Shortcut Security, seat selection, and more with no increase in the requirements to earn status for the 2025 program year. Guests with Gold Status will also continue to enjoy free bags, Wi-Fi (subject to availability), complimentary snacks and drinks, including alcohol and more on eligible flights.
