On Tuesday (July 12, 2022), Spirit Airlines announced the launch of new daily nonstop service between San Antonio International Airport (SAT) and Las Vegas (LAS), as well as to Orlando (MCO) from November 17, 2022. San Antonio will become the carrier’s fourth airport in Texas, complementing existing services to and from Austin (AUS), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and Houston (IAH). The new San Antonio service follows a recent announcement by the carrier about the opening of their new maintenance facility at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, which includes two aircraft bays and ramp space for up to four aircraft, along with warehouse, shops and office space.

In Tuesday’s announcment, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, John Kirby, said,

“Our low fares and daily flights make it easy and more accessible for San Antonio families to discover these two world-class entertainment destinations. We are also excited to offer our current Guests affordable access to the Alamo City to experience the attractions, rich history, and vibrant culture that have earned it a top vacation destination ranking in Texas.”

Also commenting on the new service, San Antonio Airport Systems’ Director of Airports, Jesus H. Saenz, said,

“Spirit coming to San Antonio International Airport gives our community more family-friendly travel options. They can enjoy the sights and sounds of Las Vegas and have a fun time enjoying all Orlando has to offer. Also, more people in Florida and Nevada can come and see how special San Antonio is – with cheaper fares that are too good to pass up. It's a win-win because it's making traveling to far destinations more accessible.”

Celebrating the launch of the new routes, Spirit is offering guests in San Antonio, Las Vegas and Orlando introductory one-way fares from only $89 for travel from November 30th through December 14, 2022. Tickets must be purchased 21 days in advance and Fridays and Sundays are excluded.
