Spirit Airlines to Launch New Daily Service to Monterrey, Mexico From Austin and Houston

Starting June 22, 2022, Spirit Airlines will launch new daily nonstop flights to Monterrey, Mexico from Houston Intercontinental and Austin-Bergstrom Airports. The carrier also offers service to Cancun, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.

On Wednesday (March 2, 2022), Spirit Airlines announced the launch of new daily nonstop service to Monterrey International Airport (MTY) in Northeastern Mexico from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston and Austin-Bergstrom international Airport (AUS) starting June 22, 2022. Spirit first entered Mexico in 2003 with service to Cancun (CUN) and added flights to Los Cabos (SJD) in 2012 and Puerto Vallarta (PVR) in 2021. The carrier’s Monterrey-Austin service will be the only nonstop flight between the two cities, while the new service to Monterrey from Houston expands the carrier’s IAH network to seven international and 17 domestic destinations.


In today’s announcment, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, John Kirby, said,


“We're excited about growing our international service from Texas with new daily nonservice from Austin (AUS) and Houston (IAH) to Monterrey, Mexico. Whether traveling for leisure or to visit friends and relatives, Spirit Airlines continues to provide our Guests with More Go.”
