On Thursday (December 4, 2025), Spirit Airlines announced the launch of their inaugural flight between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) in Grand Cayman.  The route will now operate three times weekly on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays with a Airbus A320 Family aircraft.  The addition of Grand Cayman expands Spirit’s FLL network to 24 international destinations, more than any other airline.  Additionally, travelers from dozens of cities, including New York (LGA/EWR), Detroit (DTW), Chicago (ORD) and Boston (BOS), can get away to the Cayman Islands via convenient one-stop connections in Fort Lauderdale, Spirit’s gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean.

In Thursday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ VP – Network Planning, Andrea Lusso, said,

“Grand Cayman’s natural beauty and world-class hospitality make it a great addition to our route map, and we’re excited to bring our affordable fares and elevated Guest experience to one of the Caribbean’s most iconic island destinations.  We’re proud to add yet another destination from Fort Lauderdale and give our Guests a new, high-value way to discover this tropical paradise.”

Also commenting on Spirit’s inaugural flight today, the Cayman Islands Airports Authority’s CEO, Albert Anderson, said,

“The Cayman Islands Airports Authority is delighted to welcome Spirit Airlines' inaugural flight from Fort Lauderdale to Grand Cayman.  This new service enhances connectivity to one of our key U.S. gateways and reflects the growing confidence in the Cayman Islands as a premier tourism and business destination.  We look forward to a strong partnership with Spirit Airlines as we continue to expand travel opportunities and deliver exceptional airport experiences for all visitors.”

Dania Beach, Florida-based low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines is committed to offering the best value in the sky with service across the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean.  Spirit operates one of the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets in the U.S., proudly calling their youthful all-Airbus A320/A320neo Family fleet of aircraft their “Fit Fleet®.”
