Originally scheduled to start in January 2020, today Southwest announced that flights between Sacramento and Honolulu and inter-island service between Honolulu and Lihue, Kauai will now commence November 10, 2019.
For Californians eagerly awaiting the launch of Southwest Airlines’ service to Hawaii, the company presented good news today. According to the Southwest Press Release, inaugural Hawaiian service from Sacramento to Honolulu (Oahu) will now begin on November 10th, along with inter-island service between Honolulu and Lihue, Kauai. Additionally, due to strong demand for previously announced service, beginning on March 7th, 2020 the company will add new daily service from Sacramento to Kahului (Maui), as well as daily service between both Oakland and San Jose to Lihue (Kuai), and Kona (Island of Hawaii).
In celebration of the inter-island service announced today, Southwest is offering one-way inter-island fares starting at $29.00, for purchase between now and October 3rd (11:59 PDT) for travel between November 12th, 2019 and April 8, 2020.
New Cozumel Service
Southwest will also begin (subject to government approval) twice-daily roundtrip service from Houston-Hobby and Cozumel beginning March 7, 2020. The airline has serviced the region for five years and currently offers service from 17 U.S. gateways to Cancun International Airport.
