On Monday (July 28, 2025), South African Airways (SAA) announced the launch of new direct service between Cape Town and Mauritius.  Starting December 9, 2025, the route will operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  In line with seasonal demand, the route will operate twice weekly between mid-January and Mid-March 2026.  Flights will depart Cape Town at 09:25, and will arrive in Mauritius at 16:30.  The return flight departs Mauritius at 17:20, and touches down back in Cape Town at 17:20.  The new route marks a strategic expansion of SAA’s network and enhances connectivity for travelers in the Western Cape, while underscoring the carrier’s continued commitment to connectivity, customer choice, and well-planned growth.

In Monday’s announcement, South African Airways’ CEO, Professor John Lamola, said,

“Connecting Cape Town with Mauritius is a fascinating achievement that our team has been aspiring towards for quite some time.  The introduction of this route demonstrates SAA’s role in promoting leisure travel across the region and supports the broader tourism objectives for both South Africa and Mauritius.  Passengers can look forward to experiencing SAA’s signature warm hospitality and world-class service on every flight.”

Also commenting on the new route launch, SAA’s Chief Commercial Officer, Tebogo Tsimane, added,

“This convenience of the flight schedule was carefully developed through rigorous engagement with our South African tour operator partners to ensure it aligns with traveler preferences and peak holiday planning, fulfilling our mission to offer our customers greater flexibility and convenience.”
