SMBC Aviation Capital Signs Lease Agreements with AJet for Five Airbus A320neos

SMBC Aviation Capital has announced that Turkish Airlines’ wholly-owned subsidiary AJet has signed lease agreements for five Airbus A320neo aircraft.

On Friday (July 4, 2025), SMBC Aviation Capital, a global aircraft lessor, announced the signing of lease agreements for five Airbus A320neos with Turkish Airlines’ fully-owned subsidiary AJet.  These new leases with AJet brings the number of aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital’s portfolio placed with Turkish Airlines to 25 since 2022.  Scheduled for delivery from Q4 2025 through Q2 2026, the five young, fuel-efficient A320neos will be operated exclusively by AJet.


In Friday’s announcement, SMBC Aviation’s Chief Commercial Officer, Barry Flannery, said,

The Airbus A320neo aircraft will not only enhance AJet’s operational capabilities but also contribute to a more sustainable aviation industry.  We are proud to support Turkish Airlines in their growth and modernisation efforts and look forward to many more successful collaborations in the future.”


Also commenting on the new A320neo leases, Turkish Airlines’ Chief Financial Officer and


Member of the Board and the Executive Committee, Assoc. Prof. Murat Şeker, added,

Established in 1933 with a fleet of five aircraft, Turkish Airlines has a fleet of 484 (passenger and cargo) aircraft flying to 353 worldwide destinations, including 53 domestic and 300 destinations across 131 countries and territories.  Turkish Airlines is a Star Alliance member.
