SMBC Aviation Capital has announced the delivery of the fourth Airbus A320neo on lease to low-cost carrier SKY. The aircraft is powered by CFM LEAP 1A-26 engines. SKY has a presence in eight countries across the Americas.

On Friday (January 17, 2025), SMBC Aviation Capital, a leading global aircraft lesser, announced the delivery of the fourth Airbus A320neo to low-cost carrier SKY Airline S A., which operates in eight countries across the Americas. The CFM LEAP 1A-26 powered aircraft was delivered at the Airbus facility in Toulouse, France on December 30, 2024. The aircraft was delivered to SKY from SMBC Capital’s orderbook with Airbus.
In Friday’s announcement, SMBC Aviation Capital’s Head of Airline Marketing, Conor Stafford, said,
“SKY is a long term and valued customer for SMBC Aviation Capital and we are grateful to the entire team for their hard work and collaboration in closing these deliveries. These new tech, fuel efficient A320neo aircraft will support SKY across its route network now servicing over 40 destinations in the Americas.”
Also commenting on the A320neo delivery, SKY’s Fleet and Procurement Director, Renzo Villa, added,
“We are very happy to continue the growth of our fleet, hand in hand with a strategic partner such as SMBC Aviation Capital. This allows us to continue being the only 100% neo operator in our region and strengthen our network.”
Chilean low-cost carrier SKY has been operating for 22 years, and maintains a presence across the Americas with national and international routes. Along with their subsidiaries in Chile and Peru, SKY has carried of 65 million passengers since its founding. SKY’s fleet consists of new generation Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft, the second youngest fleet in South America.
