Dominican Republic-based Sky High Aviation has taken delivery of the first of two Embraer E190s on order, becoming the only E-Jet operator based in the Caribbean. The aircraft are on lease from regional aircraft lessor TrueNoord.
On Wednesday (June 1, 2022), Embraer announced that Dominican Republic airline Sky High Aviation has taken delivery of the first of two Embraer E190s on lease from regional aircraft lessor TrueNoord. The first aircraft arrived at Las Americas José Francisco Peña Gómez Airport after transition work was completed at Embraer’s Macon, Georgia MRO facility. Sky High will take delivery of their second E190 later this month. The carrier currently operates two 50-seat Embraer E145 jets and offers service to 10 island nations in the Caribbean, and the new 98-seat two-class E190s will allow Sky High to open new international routes to the U.S., Central and South America, while delivering a higher level of comfort for customers
.In today’s announcment, Sky High Aviation’s President, Juan Chamizo Alonso, said,
“It’s a huge differentiator for us to be the only operator in the region with E-Jet capability, and a great way to celebrate our first 10 years of operations. The addition of the larger, more modern and capable E190 is the next step in our development and our offering to our customers. The E190 is the perfect aircraft to help manage demand in peak times, as well as to open and maintain the international routes essential for our continued development as a leading Caribbean operator.”
Also commenting on SKY High’s E190 delivery, TrueNoord’s CEO, Anne-Bart Tieleman, said,
“Sky High have worked hard to develop and grow a high-quality network in the Caribbean. We are proud to support them as they take the next step in their upward trajectory and commence operations with the much larger E190 aircraft. We see a lot of further opportunities for the type in this region.”
Embraer Commercial Aviation's Vice President of Sales and Marketing – The Americas, Mark Neely, added,
“Sky High has been a valued customer since 2019 when they first acquired the ERJ 145s. The addition of the E-190 to its current fleet will more than double Sky High’s capacity, and their customers will benefit from the best-in-class comfort of the E190 two plus two configuration, with no middle seats.”
