On Friday (April 5, 2024), Scoot, the LCC subsidiary of Singapore Airlines announced the first six Southeast Asian destinations that will be serviced by their first new Embraer E190-E2 jet.  These include new service to Koh Samui and Sibu, along with existing destinations in Malaysia and Thailand including Hat Yai, Kuantan, Krabi and Miri.  The E190-E2's inaugural flight will be to Krabi and Hat Yai on May 7, 2024, with 10 weekly services.  Scoot’s new E190-E2s will allow the carrier to offer direct point-to-point connections to/from Singapore, extending the carrier’s reach to non-metro cities across Southeast Asia.

In Friday’s announcement, Scoot’s CEO, Leslie Thng, said,

“We are delighted to unveil the first six destinations to be helmed by our new Embraer E190-E2s to cities in Malaysia and Thailand, including two exciting new additions to our network.  This marks a new chapter of growth for Scoot and the SIA Group, and a significant step in strengthening our presence and connectivity in the region.

“Our fleet expansion reflects our confidence that the demand for air travel will continue to grow within this region.  We will continue to seek new opportunities and push boundaries, so as to connect our customers to even more destinations at the same great value in the future.”

The second E190-E2, also scheduled for delivery this April, will serve four additional cities, including Koh Samui, Kuantan, Miri, and Sibu.  Daily flights to Koh Samui will start on May 13th, with the frequency gradually increasing to double-daily flights from early June 2024.  Frequencies to Miri and Kuantan will also increase form three to four weekly flights starting May 20th and June 3rd, respectively.  Combined with existing services, the new aircraft will expand Scoot’s offer to 103 weekly flights to Malaysia and 92 weekly flights to Thailand across 69 destinations by June 2024.

Founded in 2012, Scoot is the low-cost subsidiary of the Singapore Airlines Group.  In 2017, the airline merged with Tigerair Singapore, while retaining the Scoot brand identity.  Scoot operates a fleet of 50 aircraft including state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Airbus A320 Family aircraft.  In April 2024, Scoot will also take delivery of their first two Embraer E190-E2 jets.  Since 2012, Scoot has served over 82 million guests and by June 2024 will offer service to 69 destinations across 15 countries and territories in the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East and Europe.
