SCAT Airlines has today ordered seven Boeing 737-8 MAX Airplanes, nearly doubling their 737 fleet, and enabling the Kazakhstan-based airline to open new routes to European destinations.
On Tuesday (November 14, 2023), from the Dubai Airshow 2023, Boeing announced that SCAT Airlines has ordered seven new Boeing 737-8 MAX airplanes. The new jets will nearly double the carrier’s 737 fleet, allowing them to open new European routes. Şhymkent, Kazakhstan-based SCAT Airlines serves an extensive domestic and international network in the CIS and Central Asia. SCAT was the first airline in Central Asia to fly the Boeing 737 MAX and currently operates three 737-8 and five 737-9 variants. The order announced today was previously listed as unidentified on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website.
In Tuesday’s announcement, JSC SCAT Airlines’ President, Vladimir Denissov, said,
“Today, SCAT Airlines is the most dynamically developing airline in Kazakhstan, and it has the largest aircraft fleet in the country. Replenishing the fleet with seven more Boeing 737-8 will increase the airline's carrying capacity. It will also positively affect the timely execution of flight schedules. The company will get an opportunity to expand its route network and offer passengers even more travel destinations.”
Also commenting on the incremental 737 MAX order, Boeing’s SVP – Commercial Sales and Marketing, Brad McMullen, said,
“This repeat order is a testament to SCAT’s confidence in the value, performance and reliability of the 737 MAX family. We look forward to supporting their network expansion and continuing to play an integral role in their long-term success.”
The 737-8 MAX seats up to 210 passengers (depending on configuration) and offers a range of up to 3,500 nautical miles (6,480 km). The 737-9 seats up to 220 passengers and offers a range of up to 3,300 nautical miles (6,110 km), with both models delivering a fuel use and carbon reduction of 20 percent compared to the airplanes they replace.
