SAUDIA Launches New Service Between Jeddah and Birmingham

SAUDIA has launched new direct service between Jeddah and Birmingham, UK. The route will operate three times weekly, complementing the carrier’s existing service to London and Manchester.

On Sunday (July 2, 2023), SAUDIA announced the start of new first-time service between Jeddah and Birmingham, England. The maiden flight, SV0251, took off at 08:00 Sunday morning from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. The new route has been launched in partnership with the Air Connectivity Program (ACP), a program launched in 2021 to support tourism growth in the Kingdom. Commemorating the occasion, a special event was held at the airport’s Alfursan Lounge ahead of departure, along with a ribbon and cake cutting ceremony in the departure’s hall. Additionally, departing guests were treated with chocolate souvenirs and a special boarding pass. Upon arrival at Birmingham Airport, the aircraft was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute.


In Sunday’s announcement, SAUDIA’s Vice President of Passenger Sales, Manal Alshehri, said,


“We are proud to be expanding our operations in the United Kingdom and continue to regularly offer new destinations to our guests. The United Kingdom is a very important destination for SAUDIA, and the launch of new direct flights to and from Birmingham highlights the strengthening of relations between our two countries. We’re also very grateful for the continuous support from the Air Connectivity Program, which enables us to continue to grow as we work towards our objective to bring the world to Saudi Arabia.” Also commenting on the launch of the new Birmingham service, ACP’s Vice President of Strategy and Communication, Sultan Otaify, said,


“In collaboration with ACP, SAUDIA has launched a direct flight to Birmingham, a city steeped in history and a renowned hub of the Industrial Revolution. As this new route becomes part of the growing air network facilitated by ACP, it significantly contributes to the flourishing tourism between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom. The Jeddah-Birmingham route will now operate three times weekly with the airline’s extensive fleet, catering to guests with a range of convenient check-in methods, high-quality onboard services, and a comfortable flight experience, underlying the Saudi flag carrier’s commitment to excellence.
