On Friday (November 29, 2024), SAS announced the signing of a new contract with Sunweb, which replaces the previous two year-contract, and runs through Summer 2027. The new deal is valued at SEK 740 million (US $67.8 million) and will also include Airtours’ production following Sunweb’s acquisition in Sweden. Under the new long-term contract, SAS will operate charter flights from Denmark and Sweden to a range of destinations, including Corfu in Greece and Bodrum in Turkey. The partnership represents both companies’ commitment to long-term collaboration and growth in the charter market.
In Friday’s announcement, SAS’ VP – Global Sales, Edward Fotheringham, said,
“Both Sunweb and Airtours are long-standing, proficient, and highly valued partners for SAS in the Swedish and Danish markets. The rebranding of Airtours to Sunweb in Sweden highlights the company’s ambitions for expansion in the Nordic region. We are pleased to extend our services across a wide range of destinations.”
Also commenting on the new agreement, Sunweb’s Country Manager, Jan Lockhart, added,
“We are excited about the agreement, which marks a significant strategic decision to prioritize collaborations with airlines that share the same values of quality, reliability, and flexibility, with a long-term mindset.”
Under the contract, SAS will fly Sunweb customers from Arlanda, Gothenburg and Copenhagen to 13 destinations, including Crete, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Antalya, and Alanya.
