Qatar Airways announced on Friday that they will offer 56 weekly flights to eight U.S. gateways by mid-September, maintaining their position as the largest international carrier operating to and from the U.S.
Today (August 7, 2020), Qatar Airways announced an expansion of their offer to and from the U.S. by mid-September with 56 weekly flights to eight U.S. gateways. The expanded schedule solidifies the carrier’s position as the largest international airline operating flights to the U.S. Throughout the crisis, Qatar Airways never stopped U.S. flight, repatriating over 160,000 people in cooperation with the U.S Government. In September, the carrier will resume flights to Houston (HOU) and Philadelphia (PHL), while increasing frequencies to daily Los Angeles (LAX) flights from August 12th, and twice-daily flights to New York (JFK) starting September 1st, 2020. Houston flights will operate three-times weekly from September 2nd and service to Philadelphia will be offered four-times weekly starting September 15, 2020. In Friday’s announcement, Qatar Airways Group’s Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said,
“Qatar Airways has remained committed to bringing people home safely since the onset of the pandemic, and our commitment to the U.S., a very important strategic market, has never wavered. We are proud of our repatriation efforts to-date, and we look forward to providing travellers access to even more flights to the U.S. with the resumption of flights to Houston and Philadelphia, two major cities. The addition of these flights brings us to eight U.S. destinations and maintains our position as the largest international carrier in the U.S., and we look forward to soon returning to all ten of our incredible U.S. gateways.”
Service to Houston and Philadelphia complements Qatar Airways’ existing U.S destinations including Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth and Washington D.C. Qatar Airways’ strong partnerships with American Airlines and JetBlue allow for seamless onward connections with over 600 daily flights through American Airlines and more than 70 daily flights on JetBlue. By mid-September, the carrier will offer 56 weekly flights to the U.S. with further connections on American Airline’s network to over 200 destinations or with JetBlue to more than 55 destinations. For added peace of mind when planning travel, Qatar Airways now allows unlimited date changes for tickets (within 5,000 miles of the original destination) for travel completed before December 31, 2020, without any fare difference charges.
