On Tuesday (March 10, 2026), American Airlines announced a further investment in the premium customer experiences, and the Austin community, with plans to open a new, expanded Admirals Club lounge at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS).  The new, 12,000+ square feet space, located on the west side of the terminal, will double American’s current lounge footprint at AUS, and will also introduce an outdoor terrace, a first for American’s lounge network.  Guests will enjoy expansive views of downtown Austin and the airfield, creating a uniquely local and elevated atmosphere.  Currently, American offers nearly 50 daily flights to 11 destinations from Austin, giving Central Texas customers easy access to more than 350 destinations around the world.

In Tuesday’s announcement, American Airlines’ Chief Customer Officer, Heather Garboden, said,

“As we elevate our presence in Austin, we’re excited to bring a new level of comfort and hospitality to our customers.  This new Admirals Club® lounge will reflect the vibrant spirit of Austin while offering the thoughtful design and premium amenities our customers expect.”

Construction on American’s new and expanded lounge will start later this year, while the existing lounge will remain open for customers during construction.  The new space will feature distinct zones tailored to traveler needs, including areas to relax, dine, work and recharge.  The outdoor terrace will be a standout feature, marking the first time American has introduced open-air lounge space in network.  Customers traveling through AUS will also enjoy American’s recently announced partnerships with Lavazza coffee and Champagne Bollinger, the latter of which is available for purchase in Admirals Club lounges throughout the system.
