Qatar Airways Places Historic Order for up to 210 Boeing Widebody Airplanes

Boeing and Qatar Airways today announced an historic order for up to 210 widebody airplanes. The order includes 130 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 30 Boeing 777X airplanes, plus options for 50 more widebody jets.

On Thursday (May 15, 2025), Boeing announced that Qatar Airways has placed an historic order for up to 210 widebody airplanes including 130 787 Dreamliners and 30 777-9s airplanes, plus options for 50 more widebody jets. This sets a record as Boeing’s largest widebody order and Qatar Airways’ largest-ever order. The ceremonial signing of this milestone order was witnessed by U.S. President Donald J. Trump and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, along with Boeing’s President and CEO Kelly Ortberg, Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stephanie Pope and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.
Speaking at today’s signing ceremony, Qatar Airways Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said,
“We are happy to announce our agreement with Boeing and our partnership in the largest aircraft order in our history. A critical next step for Qatar Airways on our path as we invest in the cleanest, youngest and most efficient fleet in global aviation. This so we can meet the strong demand in the airline as we seamlessly connect passengers to the world better than anyone.
“After two consecutive years of record-breaking commercial performance and with this historic Boeing aircraft order we’re not simply chasing scale, we're building strength that will allow us to continue to deliver our unmatched products and customer experiences. Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ President and CEO, Stephanie Pope, added,

Currently, Qatar Airways operates over 150 Boeing airplanes, including 777 and 787 passenger jets and 777 Freighters. With today’s order, Qatar Airways will become the largest Boeing 787 Dreamliner operator in the Middle East. Qatar Airways currently serves over 170 destinations worldwide, connecting through their Doha hub at Hamad International Airport, the ‘World’s Best Airport’, as voted by Skytrax in 2021, 2022, and 2024.
