On Wednesday (May 29, 2024), Qatar Airways announced that they will introduce complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi onboard, becoming the first leading airline in the MENA region to offer the cutting-edge connectivity solution.  The carrier’s first three Boeing 777-300s will be Starlink-equipped by the fourth quarter of 2024, while the entire fleet will be retrofitted over the next two years.  Guests will be able to enjoy the complimentary ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi of up to 500 Megabits per second to access a range of internet services, such as streaming their favorite entertainment and sports content, online gaming, and enriched web browsing.

Speaking from the Airport Interior Expo in Hamburg, Germany on Wednesday, Qatar Airways Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said,

“This exciting collaboration with Starlink is a testament to our customer-first mindset and commitment to elevating our passengers’ experience to unprecedented heights, as we continue furthering our innovative offerings to meet and exceed passengers’ expectations throughout their journey with Qatar Airways.”

Also commenting on the new onboard connectivity collaboration, Starlink Engineering’s Vice President at SpaceX, Mike Nicolls, said,

“High-speed, low-latency internet is the future of aviation connectivity, and we’re excited to work with Qatar Airways to start flying Starlink on their fleet by the end of this year.  Soon, all Qatar Airways passengers will be able to enjoy all the benefits of the world’s best in-flight connectivity from the comfort of their seats.”

Starlink operates the world’s largest satellite internet constellation, which is engineered and operated by SpaceX, delivering high-speed, low-latency internet to users worldwide.  Qatar Airways has become the largest airline to partner with Starlink to date, which will further elevate the carrier’s award-winning onboard guest experience.
