Today, Qatar Airways announced an expansion of their service to the U.S. with 39 weekly flights to six gateways and further connections to hundreds of U.S. cities through the airline’s partnerships with American Airlines and JetBlue. Qatar Airways is the only Gulf carrier repatriating guests throughout the crisis by maintaining service to Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth. In cooperation with the governments of Qatar and the U.S., the award-winning carrier brought over 160,000 passengers home to the U.S. since February on scheduled and specially chartered repatriation flights. With today's announcement, Qatar Airways will expand their U.S. offer with service to Boston, New York, Los Angeles and Washington D.C. to complement the existing routes to Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth. Service to New York (JFK) will restart on June 19th and expand to 10 weekly flights by July 2, 2020. Service to Boston, Los Angeles and Washington-Dulles will resume on July 1st, bringing the total number of weekly flights to the U.S. to 39 by mid-July 2020. Commenting on Thursday's announcement, Qatar Airways Group’s Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said,

“Since the pandemic, at Qatar Airways we have been completely focused at fulfilling our mission to bring people home. We worked closely with the governments around the world to ensure their stranded citizens could travel home safely and our repatriation efforts were widely recognized and applauded. The United States is historically a hugely significant strategic market for our airline and at the end of April, U.S. Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo personally expressed his appreciation of Qatar Airways’ continued assistance and tremendous efforts extended by the airline to repatriate tens of thousands of Americans.

“With the relaunch of these additional four destinations bringing our total to six, Qatar Airways is clearly demonstrating its strong commitment to the U.S. market. All of the six destinations will be served with a minimum of five weekly flights from mid-July, with 10 weekly flights operating to JFK. Offering unrivaled connectivity via Hamad International Airport in Doha, recently voted the Best Airport in the Middle East for the sixth year in a row, passengers to and from the U.S. can connect with over 40 cities across Africa, Asia, Australasia and the Middle East from mid-July. Qatar Airways has continually led the industry during these unprecedented months, accumulating unrivaled experience in carrying passengers safely and reliably. By maintaining a global network that never fell below 30 destinations, Qatar Airways has stayed up to date with the latest in international airport procedures and implemented the most advanced safety and hygiene measures onboard its aircraft and at Hamad International Airport.”

Qatar Airways has enhanced onboard safety measures for guests and crew including PPE suits for cabin crew (including masks and gloves) and a modified meal service designed to limit contact. Passengers are also required to wear face coverings inflight, and the carrier recommends travelers bring their own for personalized fit and comfort. Additionally, Qatar Airways now allows unlimited date changes for tickets (within 5,000 miles of the original destination) for travel completed before December 31, 2020, without any fare difference charges. Business Class Guests traveling on Qatar Airways’ award-winning Qsuite will enjoy a private sanctuary with sliding privacy partitions and fully closing doors. Customers can also use the ‘Do Not Disturb’ (DND) indicator in their private suite to limit crew interactions. Qsuite is currently available on flights to over 30 destinations including London, Sydney, Singapore and Dallas-Fort Worth and will be added to more routes throughout the summer.

The national carrier of the State of Qatar, Qatar Airways normally serves over 170 global destinations with a fleet of more than 250 modern aircraft.
