QantasLink Launces New Service to Christmas Island and Cocos Islands

Starting November 3, 2025, QantasLink has announced the launch of first-time service to Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands. This is part of a five-year partnership with the Australian Government, providing essential service to 2,500 residents.

On Friday (August 15, 2025), Qantas announced that their regional Subsidiary, QantasLink will launch new service to Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands starting November 3, 2025. As part of a five-year partnership with the Australian Government that includes both passenger and dedicated freight services, the new flights will provide essential connections for over 2,500 residents across both territories. The services will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays with a mix of Airbus A319s and A320s in a full Economy Class configuration. Flights to the territories will be available for booking from Monday, August 18, 2025.
In Friday’s announcement, QantasLink’s CEO, Rachel Yangoyan, said,

QantasLink has a long history connecting remote communities across Australia, and we’re committed to delivering a reliable and warm service to customers. We look forward to supporting these island communities and helping maintain their vital connection to mainland Australia, while also making it easier for Australians to discover the incredible natural beauty and unique cultures of Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.”
The inaugural service to the islands will depart Perth on Monday, November 3, 2025. Flights from Perth to Christmas Island/Cocos will operate as operate as QF361 and QF363, while the Return services will operate as QF362 and QF364. The flight time is approximately 5 hours Perth to Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
Christmas Island is world famous for its annual red crab migration, with millions of crabs making their way to the ocean each year. The island is home to Christmas Island National Park, covering 63 percent of the island, and offers some of the best bird watching in the world. The Cocos (Keeling) Islands consist of 27 coral islands forming two atolls, and offers world-class diving, pristine beaches and unique Cocos Malay culture. Both Australian external territories are located in the Indian Ocean northwest of Perth.
